Public safety is a growing problem in many cities<\/strong>, especially in certain regions of the world. In the prevention of and fight against crime and insecurity, smart technologies can be exceptionally useful. Real-time intelligence systems provide police and emergency services with detailed information of great interest. What opportunities do smart technologies provide in the creation of safe cities?<\/span>.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Our colleague Nuria Jim\u00e9nez, head of the Smart Cities area of Logitek<\/strong>, spoke at this session on technology applied to cybersecurity in urban infrastructures.<\/p>\n

This was the highlight of her speech:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cPossibly the cybersecurity of critical infrastructures<\/strong> has not had the attention it deserves: issues such as short-term planning or economic restrictions have highlighted multiple management vulnerabilities in the basic services of the city.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

“This has been a great opportunity to deploy technological solutions<\/strong> directly related to industrial cybersecurity capable of improving the security of these urban infrastructures.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“From this perspective, we can talk about field devices, M2M communications, data integrity and availability\u2026<\/strong> all the way to the very platforms that manage all the information in real time.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

The OT<\/strong> networks have traditionally been blind areas, but they are not so today because of their need for communication with the IT<\/strong> networks, which means that there is an urgent need to protect the OT network. How can we do it?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“First, the network and architecture should be analyzed, then a multidimensional analysis of the vulnerabilities associated with the OT environment should be carried out, <\/span>the operational risk in the network should be evaluated <\/span>to finally create a “Cybersecurity Master Plan in Infrastructures.”<\/span><\/p>\n

V\u00edctor Mart\u00ednez of NEC Ib\u00e9rica,<\/strong> who spoke about the different technologies to make cities safer and how to use them, and insisted on a working method based on “analyzing<\/span> what has already happened to foresee what will happen and be prepared to tackle it”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ronnen Avny,<\/span> Head of Development Branch – Israel Home Front Command,<\/span><\/strong> who explained a national project<\/span> called Home Front Command, a plan articulated around resilience, aimed at protecting local<\/span> entities.<\/span><\/p>\n
