Why is it so Important?

In industrial and infrastructure environments, it is common to find assets and process variables that are not integrated into existing information and management systems. Distributed elements, difficult to instrument, or that, by their nature, have not historically been monitored, generate information that is neither collected nor incorporated into analysis and decision-making processes. This lack of visibility creates gaps in understanding the real state of operations and limits the scope of digitalization initiatives.

Making the invisible visible

The Internet of Things layer addresses this situation by enabling data acquisition directly from the physical environment, especially in cases where no prior data collection systems exist. Its role within the architecture is to make available to the other layers variables that were previously inaccessible, extending the reach of existing systems without modifying their operation.

From this capture, data is structured and prepared for integration with the information layers of the architecture, ensuring its use in monitoring, analytics, or management systems. In this way, this layer expands the available data ecosystem by incorporating new sources from the field and complementing existing information within an integrated and coherent model.
