Wonderware Technology Contributes to the Development of Sustainable and Intelligent Island Territories.
Wonderware Spain participates in the III Congress of Intelligent Island Territories that takes place on December 11 - 12, 2018.

Improving the quality of life, as well as the social and economic development of island territories is strongly limited by their geographic context and their high dependence on the outside. This situation forces the public administration and the managers of urban infrastructures, among other things, to manage resources such as water, energy, waste, or services such as mobility or communications in the most efficient way possible. At this point, technology is shaped as an enabler, but also a tool, to improve processes and systems that allow cities and territories to advance towards sustainable and intelligent development.
This is the leitmotif of the 3rd edition of the Congress of Island and Intelligent Territories “Towards an efficient island”, which will be held on December 11 and 12 on the island of La Palma, and in which Wonderware Spain will participate to present its experience and technological solutions for intelligent management of urban infrastructures.
Wonderware has a track record of more than 30 years deploying its solutions in different industrial sectors, which allows it to position itself as a world leader in the management of plant operations, improving the performance and efficiency of industrial processes. All this know-how, as well as a clear commitment to investment in R&D&I, has allowed it to deploy new technological solutions for intelligent management and exploitation of real-time information in urban infrastructures.

But, let’s go step by step, what problems and needs do those responsible for the management and operation of urban infrastructures face?
- Infrastructure management in distributed environments.
- Proprietary and closed technological applications and solutions that require a significant effort for their management.
- Difficulty of integration with systems or solutions that manage other urban verticals.
- Reduce time and resources to deploy new developments and applications to increase and extend new functionalities.
- Need to reduce maintenance, development and equipment costs.
- Budget limitations.
- Lack of a single control center.
- Deficiencies in the usability and user experience of monitoring and control applications.

So, what do we propose from Wonderware to respond to the previous questions? Deploy GISize! Our solution for intelligent management of urban infrastructures that will allow:
- Centralized supervision, control and acquisition of data from urban infrastructures.
- Deploy an open, scalable and standard platform for unified information management.
- Improve navigation and management of georeferenced information. A user experience adapted to the new needs of mobile operability.
- Reuse components already deployed in the city.
- Integration of existing vertical solutions.
- Implement infrastructure cybersecurity measures.
- Incorporate technology to achieve high availability of systems.
GISize! is our Interface for Infrastructure management in Wonderware environments that works on the SCADA solution System Platform and the visualization client InTouch OMI.

In what areas of the city or territory have we deployed our solutions for the management of urban infrastructures?
- Comprehensive and centralized management of infrastructures such as escalators and elevators in the city of Barcelona.
- Management of the irrigation system for parks and gardens in Barcelona.
- Management of different services in the Valdespartera neighborhood in Zaragoza.
- Management of different infrastructures in the AENA airport network.
- Management of tunnels operated by the Government of Navarra.
- Management of the electric bus fleet of Transports Metropolitrans de Barcelona (TMB).
- Remote control of the railway system of Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
We look forward to seeing you in La Palma at the third Congress of Island and Intelligent Territories to present our DEMOs and so you can see firsthand how to improve efficiency in the management of urban infrastructures. Do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a meeting.
