Success story
Aena
- Equipping the Barcelona Airport with a single control platform capable of naturally integrating processes of the most varied nature (from facility management systems -air conditioning, lighting, elevators- to power plants, security systems, beaconing, etc.).
- Achieving a standardization of infrastructure control dynamics in order to make the process of coupling new facilities and services natural, first at the Barcelona Airport level, then for the rest of the terminals managed by AENA.
• Given the size of an infrastructure such as an airport, the control technology had to be capable of handling thousands of signals simultaneously and presenting the information in a contextualized and simplified manner to ensure its rapid interpretation and subsequent action.
• Although the airport was operating with full guarantees, the technological control architecture was an enormous puzzle of information islands that demanded a new logic to achieve total integration.
- A new management environment has been structured in which all processes are integrated into a single platform regardless of the hardware or software with which they work.
- Barcelona Airport now has a unique control infrastructure in the world that guarantees full reliability of processes, provides total visibility of operations, and promotes collaborative work between departments.
- Thanks to Wonderware's modeling capabilities, AENA has managed to create airport models that allow standardizing engineering work and naturally integrating new processes into the control environment.

Jordi Asensi, Head of the Department of Management and Systems and Databases of AENA. Barcelona Airport The centralization of operations that Wonderware offers us, managing around 700,000 signals, is fundamental for a critical infrastructure like this. Today we can have a quick response to incidents and, in addition, be proactive in optimizing management. A fundamental tool to achieve this.
