The IBH Link UA Quad Core 64 Bit is a much more powerful device for demanding applications, as it runs on a 64-bit processor at 1.8 Ghz with 4GB of RAM.
(For comparison, the IBH Link UA Quad Core 32 Bit runs with a 32-bit processor at 1 Ghz with 2 GB of RAM.)

The configuration of the IBH Link UA is carried out with the free IBH OPC UA editor, the original STEP7 from Siemens or the TIA Portal. No other special software is required. In this way, the IBH Link UA can be perfectly integrated into the PLC project.
The definition of the variables will be transferred from the programming tool to the IBH Link UA via Ethernet. The attributes of the variables (e.g. write protection or limits) will be defined directly within the PLC project. This allows symbolic access to variables and data block structures.
Communication with the PLC S5 and S7 is established via Ethernet. If the PLC does not have an Ethernet port, our well-known IBH Link S7 or IBH Link S5 gateways can be used. There are three Ethernet ports for the machine level in IBH Link UA and one Ethernet port for the supervision level. Only OPC access is allowed at the supervision level. There is an integrated firewall between the two levels. The configuration of the Ethernet ports can be done using a standard web browser.
One of the advantages of the IBH Link UA from IBHsoftec is that the IBH Link UA supports Client and Server functions simultaneously. This allows the exchange of data between different OPC UA servers. For example, control systems and other equipment with OPC UA servers from different manufacturers can exchange data with each other. The configuration of the client functions will be carried out using a standard web browser.
User-defined OPC UA variables
Data structures can be defined in a separate namespace and then connected to any other OPC UA server via the client function. This means that other OPC UA clients can also read and write these data structures.
MQTT connection
User-defined OPC UA variables can be exchanged with an MQTT broker/server.
Therefore, IBH Link UA can be used as a layer between machines and control systems (MES, ERP…) regardless of the controllers.
Support for data models and methods with Python
To link data models or companion specifications with Python modules in IBH Link UA, the desired companion specification or data model is integrated into the project in IBH Link UA. The OPC Foundation has specified data models for different industries. For industrial automation, for example, there are data models for the automation of production plants and machines, such as the control, monitoring and diagnostics of machines, as well as the management of production processes and energy management. This means that all the possibilities offered by Python can be used.
GDS – Global Discovery Service (Server/Client)
A Global Discovery Server (GDS) provides mechanisms for the central administration of the following components:
CA-signed certificates and self-signed certificates
Trust lists and certificate revocation lists (CRLs)
A GDS thus provides an access point for central certificate management. It therefore assumes the role of a security server within an OPC UA network.
Optionally, it is possible to install a GDS server from Unified Automation as a Docker container.
TeamViewer Software
The pre-installed TeamViewer software offers the option of accessing almost all PLC systems at any time and from any location.
