The RS232 serial line is commonly used for data transmission in small automation systems. However, since a conventional PC has only one or two serial ports, a device is often required to allow program-controlled RS232 serial line switching.
The SW232 switch is designed for communication between a computer and intelligent devices. “Intelligent” means that addressing an individual device is possible. The entire system is assumed to operate in request-response mode.
The control PC sends a request that is distributed to all devices connected via the SW232 switch. Only one device can respond (typically the one that has recognized its address). All data travels through SW232 without changes or delays, and no configurations are needed. RXD and TXD signals are transmitted, and all data flows are signaled by LEDs.
Delivery includes a WAGO lever for easy handling of the terminals (the terminals can also be manipulated with a flat screwdriver).
