Our EDGE solution allows us to get closer to the equipment, facilitating the reading of every connected sensor, being a first step to communicate the field equipment with the control center and, finally, the cloud. The main characteristics that the EDGE solution will provide us to be able to work with urban infrastructures are:
Communications
Communication capacity with PLC’s, Remotes or Gateways from all manufacturers via communication drivers (more than 100 industrial protocols), MQTT, OPC UA, REST, being the link with the Control Center (UOC) and/or the Cloud.
HMI Visualization
It allows interacting with facilities locally, being a SCADA HMI solution at the equipment level. Working from the EDGE in those facilities that have permanent maintenance personnel.

Our EDGE solution allows us to get closer to the equipment, facilitating the reading of every connected sensor, being one of the steps from the EDGE to the control center and the Cloud. The main characteristics that our EDGE solution will provide us to be able to work with urban infrastructures are:
The facilities where control maneuvers are carried out, such as valves for irrigation, switching on pumps or lighting switches, normally have a PLC device inside the control cabinet that offers the possibility of communicating through a specific protocol.
The sensors that capture the information are very varied and inform us of different physical or chemical changes in our infrastructures or in the environment that surrounds it. A temperature or humidity sensor will allow us to decide if it is necessary to water a park, an ultrasound sensor can measure the % of filling of a container, etc.
Integrate the position of the buses of the public transport network of your city, extracting the information through web services, HTTP/HTTPS REST. The city of Barcelona has a solution for this.
Our Edge solution, as a communications integration center, is compatible with OPC UA, being an OPC UA server for the control center that acts as a client.
In this way, working as a communications gateway, it allows reaching the sensors with the necessary protocol and converting it, elevating the information through secure OPC UA protocol. It is also compatible with the MQTT protocol (message queuing telemetry transport).
Cities that require integrating the reading of water meters in their distribution network, energy or gas meters, will need specific, robust and secure industrial drivers, such as DNP, IEC60870 or Modbus. All these drivers are included with the AVEVA Edge solution
