AVEVA Edge 2023: New Features in Sight

A revamped UI, connection with Azure IoT Hub, and SVG use are some of the new features that the platform presents this fall. Discover them!

AVEVA Edge is back with a new version that will not leave anyone indifferent. If its penultimate update already came on strong, allowing the use of Industrial Graphics and improving communications, get ready because the software is renewed and brings us closer to the most advanced industrial automation.

More Catchy and User-Friendly Interface

Among the new features, the platform follows in the footsteps of AVEVA System Platform and incorporates an updated user interface (UI), with a comprehensive modernization that facilitates the work of those behind the screen and increases efficiency in the plant. In this latest version, the icons are simpler and more accessible, and the available styles are limited to light (default) and dark mode.

From SVG to Industrial Graphics in one Click

The nightmare of many is over: with AVEVA Edge 2023, you can convert high-quality vector files to industrial graphics, without having to use high-resolution images as a basis for creating them from scratch. Consequently, the design becomes simpler and the resolution of the graphics improves, which gives us a more accurate and detailed representation of the processes.
And that’s not all. Beyond getting them in the blink of an eye, the new industrial graphics offer support for arrays and class tags. Thus, by classifying the information in a more structured way, the graphic representation in HMI/SCADA applications becomes more dynamic and rigorous.

Licensing Enabled with AVEVA Enterprise Licensing

AVEVA Edge reappears, also, with the option of being licensed with AVEVA Enterprise Licensing, as was already the case with AVEVA System Platform. Let us remember that, until now, AVEVA Edge had other licensing software that allowed you to install the license locally on each computer. Now, you will have the added possibility of creating a license server and managing them from the same site.

Your Data, also in Microsoft Azure

Another of the new features that you should not miss is the integration with Azure IoT Hub, which implies a direct connection between the Microsoft cloud and your field devices. From now on, you can connect, monitor, and manage your IoT devices through the cloud, thanks to a secure and reliable bidirectional communication between Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and AVEVA Edge.

In addition to the improvements mentioned above, in the software update you will be able to access new communication drivers, such as KEYEN, for example, which facilitates support in runtime communication with Linux. In the same way, you will have the usual drivers in an improved version.
