City Platforms that Speak to each other (Part 2): New Wonderware – Sentilo Connectivity API

A few months ago in this article, we announced how the city of Barcelona is developing an ecosystem of public-private collaborations for the deployment of its Smart City initiative. The confluence of technological solutions to face the new challenges of the city is giving rise to the need for understanding and connectivity between different management platforms of real-time information from the network of sensors deployed in the city.

The Wonderware technology, deployed by Logitek, is facilitating the real-time management of information from city infrastructures such as stairs, fountains, irrigation in parks and gardens, or elevators. And even the monitoring of the impact of works on some main roads of Barcelona.

The potential of the technological solution of the Wonderware_Logitek platform has facilitated the development of an API based on a REST interface for its connectivity with the Sentilo Platform.

The Wonderware Sentilo Gateway Service 2014 (v2014.0.0) gateway is presented as a set of files that can be executed from any folder on the destination machine. In this sense, it facilitates:

• To the provider, as an entity that represents a group of components and that allows it to communicate with Sentilo to send data and receive commands:
  • Register on the platform.
  • Publish sensor observations.
  • Subscribe to orders.
  • Publish alarms associated with an alert.
• As a Client/Module application, as an entity that consumes the data processed by the Sentilo platform.
  • Register on the platform.
  • Subscription to the data sensor.
  • Send orders to providers/sensors (order service).
  • Receive alarms associated with an alert.
