Get Ready for Cogent DataHub 11: Explore the New Version Now

The eleventh software update will bring more security, functionalities, and intelligence. Test the new features!

A new year is approaching, which for popular belief is usually synonymous with novelties in many areas spread over the coming months. However, this November did not want to wait to turn the page on the calendar and has presented Cogent DataHub 11, a new version of the software that will bring exciting improvements in security and functionalities:

Data Diode Mode

One of the capabilities that will be incorporated is the configuration of tunnels to immediately discard incoming data without needing additional processing, which guarantees a much higher level of security in DataHub tunnel/mirror connections. In addition, this mode will be compatible with any hardware data diode that supports TCP emulation.

Progress in OPC DA Client Connections

In version 11, the OPC DA server will be able to provide OPC elements to clients without the “domain” prefix assigned by DataHub.

To understand each other, this possibility enables the configuration of data presentation in only one domain, by specifying the name of this in the drop-down list. By activating this option, another one of “Exclude domain name from element identifiers” is exposed, which, when selected, shows the OPC elements exactly as they are in the original server, without the domain name prefix assigned by DataHub.

Flexibility for Azure

As a novelty, a Git repository for stored configurations is also added, along with the editing of Azure firewall rules and the ability to add custom DNS names. Now, therefore, customers will have the power to change the name of their service URL and manage port security.

More Connections…

  1. With external historians

Yes, as you read. Version 11 extends connections for Apache Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, and OPC Classic HDA, so that the support can store and forward data from various sources, other than InfluxDB.

  2. Via MQTT

On the other hand, it offers Sparkplug 3 and MQTT V5 support for client and broker.

Reinforcement in Security

Apart from the aspects already mentioned, the platform refreshes its security system with facilities such as:

  • Import user accounts from a local machine with Windows or an external LDAP server.
  • Recognize users through multi-factor authentication, including time-based one-time passwords (TOTP).
  • Differentiate user access permissions by connection origin (i.e., IP address, CIDR) and protocol.
  • Create custom roles and permission sets for application functionality and improved data security.

Improvements in WebView

Which could not be missing from the evening either:

  • Multiple (and better) tabs
  • It will be possible to open multiple pages in edit mode and instantly switch from one to another, through an algorithm that quickly handles these transitions in execution mode.

  • Page viewer control
  • This new control will allow you to place multiple pages in one, and will be more than useful for designing dashboard screens and slide shows.

  • All-in-one control access and editing
  • In order to save you an amount of time that you will appreciate, the controls can now be searched, selected, and edited in bulk.

  • Lines and arrows, arrows and lines
  • More facilities to the list: in the new version there will be a new line segment control to draw lines and arrows on the page.

  • New script editor in favor of your timings
  • From which, in turn, a more intuitive coding environment will be generated with syntax highlighting and search/replace.

Although all the highlighted features sound very substantial, for the moment they are only available in the beta version.
