How Logitek Implements Perimeter Defense.
Perimeter defense is one of the first steps in implementing an in-depth asset defense strategy. We explain how we do it at Logitek.
Perimeter defense is one of the first steps in implementing an in-depth defense strategy for assets. In the “Perimeter” layer, we must focus on defining what zones exist in our ICS OT network, its equipment, and identifying the different “borders” that separate each of these zones.
Once the perimeters of the ICS OT networks have been defined, mechanisms must be sought to protect them and prevent unwanted intrusions.
The objective of computer perimeter security is to prevent uncontrolled intrusions by third parties and prevent them from fraudulently accessing the assets that reside within the identified perimeters.
It is therefore a first line of defense against external attacks on our network and must fulfill four basic functions:
- Resist external attacks.
- Identify attacks suffered and alert to them.
- Isolate and segment the different systems and minimize the exposure factor of the equipment.
- Filter and block network traffic, allowing what is necessary for the function.

When it comes to implementing network perimeter defense, the following technologies must be taken into consideration, mainly:
- Firewalls where access policies are defined to delimit what type of traffic, what origins, and what destinations are allowed.
- Intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to monitor and alert in the event of an unauthorized intrusion attempt.
- Validated and secure remote access systems where the authenticity of the remote user and communications is guaranteed (confidentiality, integrity, and availability)
Logitek implements perimeter defense with latest generation Firewalls with capabilities of:
- Define allowed traffic policies.
- Secure remote access management with two-factor authentication.
- IDS / IPS
- Application control
- AntiMalware
- HA (High Availability) capabilities
- Network attack detection.
