Logitek, a New Member of the Spanish Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers (AFM)

Logitek is now a new member of the Spanish Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers, we tell you how the process has been until becoming associates and what expectations we have being in AFM

Logitek, a new member of AFM

Logitek is now a new member of the Spanish Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers, accessories, components and tools, an institution with 70 years of history and 130 associates.

AFM Cluster for Advanced and Digital Manufacturing brings together the different groups related to advanced and digital manufacturing in Spain, and is the culmination of an integrating process that began some years ago and that currently allows them to have an ecosystem of companies related to manufacturing technologies with powerful possibilities of interaction and growth among them.

Specifically, the Cluster integrates four Associations with more than 400 industrial companies:

  • AFM Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Spanish Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers, accessories, components and tools, with 70 years of history and 130 associates.
  • ADDIMAT, Association of Additive and 3D Manufacturing Technologies, founded in 2014 and with 81 associated companies.
ESKUIN, Cluster of Hardware and Industrial Supply, with 22 national manufacturers.
  • AFMEC, Association of Machining and Metal-Mechanical Transformation, was created in May 2016, and has just over 150 companies.
  • UPTEK, Spanish association of technology-based companies and start-ups for advanced and digital manufacturing. It is the most recent (July 2019), the interest is to accommodate new companies with a technological offer of value for the industry.

On the other hand, and in parallel above these four associations, there is a fifth group, formed by the COLLABORATING PARTNERS, where companies and organizations linked by their activity (such as LOGITEK) are integrated, to the associated companies and that carry out complementary activities for the sector, without the capacity to be associated. Its profile is very diverse, there are industrial suppliers, technology centers, marketing and communication service companies, consultants, etc… and a total of more than 60 partners.

Today, the Machine Tool (MT) sector is in full phase of changes as a result of the new needs of the industry, and has taken a leap of quality forward. As an example, one of the most important changes they have made in the last two years is the incorporation of an OPC server from the CNCs of the machines themselves. There are three major CNC manufacturers that have incorporated this server, Fanuc, Fagor and Siemens. This would be an example of architecture:

We are convinced that being present in the AFM will help us to position ourselves as a technological partner of the Machine Tool manufacturers since Logitek can provide knowledge and high-value technological solutions to meet new needs derived from the digital transformation of the industry.
