We have a new and improved version 5.3 of OPC Router! As is tradition with the software, October brings good news and surprises for users. This time, a wide range of new features and improvements are arriving that boost industrial connectivity.

Access to Files in the Cloud: Seamless Cloud Integration

To begin with, OPC Router 5.3 incorporates Cloud File Access, a new plugin that enables the direct connection of production data to the main cloud storage systems, such as Amazon S3 and Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. This way, companies can store, retrieve, and share files securely over the Internet, significantly improving collaboration and flexibility.

What are the main benefits of this new functionality?

  • Improved connectivity: now, you can transfer data from various sources such as OPC UA, MQTT, databases, or local file systems directly to the cloud.
  • Flexible data formats: likewise, the plugin allows you to process data in formats such as CSV, JSON, XML, and Excel.
  • High security standards: encrypted transmissions and authentication mechanisms from cloud providers guarantee secure communication.
  • Scalability: flexibly adapt storage and resources without having to invest in additional hardware.

Navigation of MQTT Topics

Within the MQTT protocol, topics are the central communication channels that allow messages to be distributed and organized between devices and systems. Now, with the new version OPC Router 5.3 you can list the available MQTT topics, and thus quickly find topics and use them in additional applications.

This improvement makes working with MQTT much easier, saving you time in configuring communication channels.

OpenTelemetry: IT-OT more of a Team than Ever

In addition, OPC Router 5.3 is compatible with OpenTelemetry, which allows integration with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk. In other words, the new version introduces the possibility of monitoring production (OT) and IT data in the same centralized system, facilitating the early detection of bottlenecks and, therefore, optimizing system performance.

More New Features of Version 5.3

  • Influx DB plugin performance improvement: From now on, around 2,500 insertions per second can be launched in Influx DB databases.
  • Compatibility with OPC UA 1.05, a new version of OPC UA that expands communication in the MQTT and PubSub area.
  • Security improvements: allows encrypted communication between the primary and secondary OPC Router, through the use of pre-shared keys.

The new OPC Router updates add to the level of the previous ones that we have been enjoying with the most recent releases. Now, it’s time to know how to get the most out of each one to improve our experience with the solution day by day.
