Solution for Extended Networks with a New Architecture Based on Combricks and ProfiHubs Equipment
- Resolve communication incidents
In the Motor Control Center, there were several Profibus networks where communication problems occurred. Instrumentation and Siemens, GE, and/or ABB PLCs coexisted on the networks. Having been expanded in an unplanned manner with intermediate drives, following the wiring and detecting any incident presented great difficulties.
- The affectations that existed due to communications have disappeared.
- A segmented and clearly organized network has been established.
- Constant network diagnostics with Combricks equipment.
- Elimination of noise from variable speed drives thanks to ProfiHub equipment.
- Elimination of noise propagation throughout the rest of the network.
- Due to the demonstrated good performance, the architecture and equipment have been standardized for other areas of the plant.
- Looking to the future, the way to grow and add equipment to the network has been clearly defined.
- Profinet/Profibus Competence Center
The Solvay Torrelavega complex is the largest and oldest production center of the Solvay Group in Spain. On the 78 hectares of the complex, sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, and salt (sodium chloride) are produced.
All of them are products that serve as basic chemistry for other industries: from multinationals to small companies and that are part of industries as diverse as glass, paper, detergent, pharmaceutical or food and, within it, both human and animal.
