Wireless communication for when cabling is not the best option
There are situations in which wired communication can become a major problem, as it limits certain aspects such as mobility, security, or distance. That is when wireless communication comes into play, a very helpful solution in these cases to solve the various inconveniences.
Today, there are very well-prepared tools to offer industrial wireless that meets market demand. Among them, the Anybus Wireless Bridge, devices capable of working with different roles depending on their configuration.

Anybus Wireless Bridge, the solution for avoiding cabling
Anybus Wireless Bridges are devices for Wireless communication (WiFi and Bluetooth). They have a web interface for configuration, as well as a button to quickly and easily establish the desired role. They also include LEDs that provide information about the status in which it is working.
In its main role, they act as a completely transparent wireless bridge for the Ethernet network. From a pair of Anybus Wireless Bridges, all network data is sent from one device to another, including level two data in the OSI model, which allows communication with protocols such as PROFINET or Broadcast at the MAC Address level. Likewise, Anybus Wireless Bridges perform other roles such as Access Point of a wireless network, or client of an existing network.
With bridge mode (link between two Anybus Wireless Bridges), they are compatible with any Ethernet protocol, such as PROFINET. For the rest of the functionalities, they allow the passage of TCP/IP or UDP/IP layer protocols, such as Ethernet/IP (Industrial Protocol), Modbus TCP, BACNET IP, HTTP(S) or FTP(S).
Anybus Wireless Bridges come in two versions, one with an external antenna and one with an internal antenna:
Main functionalities of the Anybus Wireless Bridge
Avoid cables in unfavorable places
Sometimes, adding a machine to a production line requires construction work to make a trench and pass the cable. With a wireless bridge, it is possible to save this type of work.

Communicate mobile devices such as AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle)
Thanks to their low energy consumption, Anybus Wireless Bridges are also optimal for incorporation into the communication of certain vehicles so that, as clients of a Wifi network, they are always communicated with each other.

Provide wireless communication for rotating machinery
For rotating equipment, turning the cable is not an option. While there are alternatives such as brushes, the continuous use of these produces wear that, in the long run, generates communication problems. With the incorporation of Anybus Wireless Bridge, you can avoid machine stops to replace damaged brushes.

Provide Wifi communication to any Ethernet device
When we connect the Ethernet port of a device to the Anybus Wireless Bridge, the latter functions as a Wifi antenna, offering wireless connectivity transparently. In addition, by cloning the MAC address of said device, it can communicate any protocol that goes over Ethernet, a very useful resource for those cases in which the MAC is required to be the same for all.

Join an Ethernet network segment to a Wifi network
In relation to the previous point, Anybus Wireless Bridge allows several devices with Ethernet connections to connect via Wifi, a very useful resource when you need to provide wireless communication to a network segment. In these cases, devices can communicate from protocols that work on the TCP/IP or UDP/IP layers.
It must be taken into account that if the Access Point is different from the Anybus Wireless Bridge, communication at the MAC Address level will not be possible.

Communicate devices in hazardous areas
Finally, Anybus Wireless Bridges are the ideal solution for risky scenarios. There are certain jobs that require a nearby operator to ensure the accuracy of the machine, which can pose a risk to the person. Wireless communication, in these cases, can be a more than valid option to keep the worker in a safe area.
