Integration of Safety Control and Digitalized Processes in the EAM IFS Ultimo
Project objectives
Sector:
Chemicals and Cosmetics
Oil&Gas
  • Replace the obsolete EAM that did not resolve the challenges related to compliance with safety legislation.
  • Digitalize all manual and tedious processes.
Challenges
  • Effect a successful transition from manual to digital processes, with the agreement of the entire team and ensuring a data migration without the loss of valuable information along the way.
  • Ensure that the new solution, beyond streamlining operations, allowed alignment with current safety legislation.
Result
  • Complete and standardized EAM solution that includes modules for HSE (health, safety, and environment) management.
  • Replacement of the obsolete database and data import to the new platform: more efficient processes with the digitalization of maintenance management and work permits.
  • In reference to the latter, work permits to comply with HITRA legislation and other safety standards.
  • Cloud platform that allows greater efficiency of workers thanks to access to information through mobile devices.
  • Likewise, by having the information digitalized, business reports are improved, and it is easier to carry out audits.
Solutions and products used

BP is a global energy company that operates in 78 countries. With a presence in Spain since 1954, it is one of the main energy companies in the country; specifically, the third largest in the national oil sector. In addition, it maintains a prominent position in the industrial natural gas market. In general, they supply products and services to customers around the world, with an increasing focus on driving the energy transition towards a future with fewer carbon emissions.

Sustainability shares privileged positions with safety for the company: the latter is one of the highest priorities for BP. Before incorporating IFS Ultimo, the company had an obsolete EAM, unable to comply with the strict rules and legislation of the sector. In addition, many of the processes were manual, tedious, and made it very difficult to obtain documentation to carry out audits and verify that everything was in correct order.

The current complete and standardized solution serves more than ten plants in Europe, the USA, and Asia, which now enjoy a single platform where they can also manage issues related to HSE (health, safety, and environment). Likewise, IFS Ultimo has also meant a leap in the quality of workers’ operations, who now have digitalized work permits and access to information through their mobile devices. In short, BP currently has a higher quality in its operations, in addition to a significant reduction in license costs.
